Village Day Update What is happening about Village Day 2020? This is the question we have all been faced with in recent weeks and finally we have an answer. Village Day has taken place every year for the past 23 years and so it is with sadness that we need to advise you that this year we have taken the decision to cancel our usual event. The social distancing rules makes it impossible to run safely.
But the good news is... instead we’ll be running a virtual version of the event for everyone to enjoy and take part in. This will be taking place between Saturday 15th - Monday 31st August. The Yarnbombers will be decorating the village and creating a quiz again. The quiz will be able to be downloaded from our website nearer the time. Also given how successful the recent scarecrow trail was (well done those who set it up and made scarecrows) - we thought we’d promote a “Children’s Books” scarecrow trail with prizes. So lots to get you exploring our villages on foot.
With lockdown many of us have had the chance to do a bit of gardening, baking and crafts so we’ll be hosting a virtual produce show where you can upload your photos. Categories will be announced soon on our Facebook page and on our website.
We’ve also decided to support the businesses that have supported us over the last few years by sharing their adverts - we think that after all this local companies will certainly need our continued support. These will go on our website and on our Facebook page.
We do hope you’ll be able to support this event - it’s new to us and we hope that everyone gets behind it. Then in 2021 it’ll be our 25th year which after the year we’ve all had hopefully will be a fantastic celebration.
